Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” Coming home one night my husband informed me he left me something under my pillow. Excitedly, I ran to our room, to find a box of chocolates, with only one chocolate left. Brushing off the disappointment, it made me think of my favorite movie, Forrest Gump. It’s true, in life we really never know what we are going to get. Some things are as sweet as chocolates, while others leave a residue of disappointment and grief.
Thinking about this chocolate in the box, made me think about life with God. With Him, that one choice is all we need. With this comes a host of heavenly promises you can be sure of.
“He shall direct your paths. He restores my soul. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me.” Proverbs 1.
” Defend you, strengthen you. Fulfill all your purposes.”-Psalm 20.
“Saves his anointed; answers him from His holy heaven.”-Psalm 20.
At times, when the tide comes in and all hope seems to be lost, I know God is near. When the storm clouds are all I can see, His presence is felt, directing my every step. The moment my body meets the hard surface of the floor, His face is all I see.
Yes, in this World, you may never know what you’ll get, but with God, you can be sure of His concrete promises. Find the one you need today and hold onto it.
