Boredom Kits

When we were kids, my brother Trey and I decided to make boredom kits. The purpose was to fulfill the obvious: distract us from being bored. I don’t remember much about these kits except that we challenged ourselves to memorize scripture. We made it so far as memorizing one, but then our boredom kit became rather boring. That one verse we memorized has never left me. To this day, I quote it and reflect on it often.

“ Yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4.

I didn’t fully comprehend at the time just how much this verse and promise had kept me. Or how it continues to keep me through the healing.

The previous verses say, “ He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. V. 2-3.

I know moving forward can be hard. I face the mountain every time I reach for more. The truth is, I yearn for the victory. My life depends on it, and so does yours. I realized, there’s a reason His green pastures and quiet waters precede the valley of the shadow of death. In His goodness, He prepares a way—one of assurance over fear; protection along with peace. Every revealed truth has been smoothed over like butter in His gentleness. There is never a lack of God’s healing presence. Invite Him, Your healer, into every broken place. Don’t take this path without Him. He is your blessed assurance that everything works out for good to those who love and serve the Lord. – Romans 8:28.

When you reach the top of your mountain, and you breathe in that fresh crisp air, everything feels lighter. The thickness of the air is no longer there, nor is the heaviness hindering every step. Every breakthrough only comes with more gratitude, ease, and joy at the very life you have been given. Find your healing, and enjoy your purpose!
