“ I’m going away on a long fishing trip, but I’ll come back for you.”
Thirty years ago, these words fell into the heart of a very believing daughter, from the mouth of her very own father. I never questioned him at the moment. It was really quite simple. He was going fishing, he does this a lot. He will be back. No need to worry.
What I didn’t comprehend then, is there was no tomorrow for us. He knew it. My brother probably knew it. I did not.
Then…
Words from a real father whisper the same tender promise.
“ Do not let your hearts be troubled… If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am. You know the way.” John 14: 1, 3-4.
No greater promise has ever been fulfilled, than the words of Jesus. His love for you is real. He longs to take you to be with Himself. He calls you by name, which is enough to make anyone’s heart stop beating, taking your very breath away! How exciting it is, that we always have a home with Jesus.
We are not orphaned or alone. He has shown us the way to Himself.
This promise that He will come back to me, gives my longing heart so much hope. Joy that I belong. Nearness to a perfect King. In this life, you will have trouble. He says, “do not let your hearts be troubled.” Many things trouble my heart today, but only because I neglect clinging to His promises.
If He is for me, who and what can be against me? His ways are perfect. And He has prepared a place for you and for me, to walk alongside Him, to have communion with Him and to live with Him forever, in the place He has prepared for you.

Love this—your hope is so encouraging, and your sharing part of your life is so heart wrenching.
