“ Trembling and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her,
“ Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Mark 8:47-48.
The woman who suffered twelve years of bleeding knew if she only touched the hem of Jesus’s garment, she would be healed. It isn’t her healing alone that grips our hearts in this story, but her desperation met by his love. He didn’t turn her away like all the others, seeing her as insignificant, dirty, or one to blame and avoid. He welcomed her, sought her out, and loved her. He rewarded her for trusting in Him so much that she risked her life to touch Him. She was an outcast, not to touch anyone.
Resonating, we’ve all been met with longing in our eyes, and desperation for acceptance, love, and healing. We live lives of perceived insignificance or unworthiness. Knowing our sins or filth will be our rejection from others. Not welcomed, even by her own family, was the reality she lived for twelve heartbreaking years.
How significant that moment must have been, eye-locked with Jesus Himself! And he tells her to be of good cheer because her faith has made her well! Touching His hem alone didn’t make her well, but her faith.
He refers to all healing when He says, ” your faith has made you well.” Our faith in Him is our salvation. The healing may not happen right away, it’s often a journey. But through that journey, we will be well as long as we are in Him. Which means, trusting in Him. Looking to heaven rather than this earth.
Having my own eyes locked on Jesus, has always been enough. Meeting His gaze, seeing His love, I know that I am significant, even if only to Him. This known love is healing, and because He is so good, He gives us more. He tells us to be of good cheer and to go in peace. His heart’s desire for you is to know His healing, love, peace, and good cheer. Don’t stop pressing through until you have it!
